Details
In my newsletter today I would like to ask the question, do you consider yourselves a person who thinks details are important? The details could include listening to specifics in a story, listening to details when given a medical diagnosis or another angle-reading the instructions when putting a project together. Whatever the case, would you say details are significant? I would have to say that from a young age, I have always felt details are crucial because in the end they always help lead to a better understanding and increases the chances for a better outcome. Apparently, I am not the only one who feels this way. According to Google, the definition of details is as follows: “the ability to accurately follow direction will help you become more successful at any given task. Following directions helps you to avoid unnecessary and costly mistakes.” When I think of a certain story that could have had a different outcome, I think about the story in the Bible in 2 Chronicles-chapters 3-5 that required a person named Solomon to follow specific details about a building project. Solomon was entrusted to build a temple, but it required him to follow explicit instructions which resulted in a structure that took approximately seven years to complete. Once the temple was complete, many gave thanks and praise to God. In that moment the temple was filled with a cloud- this was the glory of the Lord that filled the temple. Tony Evans states it best: “The people’s praise, pleased God and He manifested His pleasure by filling His temple with a cloud.” Without Solomon’s attention to detail and his obedience, the temple would have been a failure. Lets us all strive for a greater level of detail like Solomon and let our praise please the Lord.
The priests could not continue their service because of the cloud, for the glorious presence of the Lord filled the Temple of God.
