Well Done
In my newsletter this week, I want to share a story of achievement. Monday, I attended a graduation ceremony of someone who recently got their Masters degree. The individual had worked extremely hard to do her best and finished at the top of her class while graduating with a 4.0. In addition to being a student, she was a mother, a wife and an employee who held down a full-time job while going to school. I don’t know about you, but in my opinion, that is a lot of pressure and stress. However, that did not stop her because she succeeded with excellence and gave it her all. Likewise, she persisted at all costs and knew what was required of her and therefore, devoted everything she had to finish well. The student knew if she made it to the end the journey, she would have a better future because she pressed on and was faithful. Though it took sacrifice and dedication, she continued to run the race with endurance and perseverance. The student did not allow distractions to take her off the path of what the Lord had called her to do.
Much like the student above, when believers look at their end goal – which is hopefully eternity in heaven, they should have the same mindset - finishing well. But, what does this look like? The idea of completing this life should always include giving it our all and doing our best while persevering. The concept also requires giving up one’s self and following God’s will, rather than our own. Likewise, followers should focus on completing each assignment whole-heartedly because they are working for a higher power. Similarly, though the hard work is a sacrifice and takes dedication, the disciples will succeed because their will is in submission to His will and He is working in and through them to accomplish the goal. With this said, as you reflect on your actions and attitudes would you say you display God’s sovereignty over your life? Can you say that you have run the race with dignity and stayed on the path that He has laid out for you? Well if you need to readjust that is fine! But, just remember that when you put in the hard work and remain stead-fast then you can achieve the goal-heaven. How reassuring this is!
Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.

Reflection Questions:
When you work, do you do it to the best of your ability?
Who are you working for-yourself or Jesus?
What is required of you to stay on the path so you can run with perseverance?
How will you make changes to make sure heaven is your end goal?
Bonus: Great song (if you are interested) - When you finish the race will you hear “Well Done”
