The Path to Finding Clarity

In my newsletter this week I would like to talk about the path we travel. As you know I recently went to NC for training and had to fly again. The flight was good on the way there, but not on the way home. As we began our trip home, and we neared our destination, the pilot came on over the intercom to say that we would be hitting turbulence soon and that we needed to stay in our seats for the duration of our trip. She said it was for our own safety. Now for a fearful flyer, this was not news that I really wanted to hear. So, what did I do? I began praying- probably out loud, lol! With this said, as we neared the storm, she went on to say that visibility was limited and the duration of the trip would be choppy. The once smooth skies that we started out with had changed and became hazardous and unpredictable. For me, this was scary and to my surprise presented a bit of anxiety. But I knew through prayer and through my faith I would get past the fear. After all, l was putting my hope in the main pilot (Jesus) who was more than enough to help in our time of need. After all, if He could calm the seas, then He could do the same in the skies. I knew He was ultimately in control and I had to believe that though we could not see what was ahead, He knew, and that was enough to get us home safely. As we navigated through the rough parts of the flight, we finally reached smooth skies again and visibility was better. Immediately, I felt my anxiety decrease. It was evident that others shared the same feelings because when we landed, everyone began to clap. Once the plane hit the runway, there was a huge relief because now we were on solid ground and were safe. Much like the airplane flight, our lives can often reflect the same unknown turbulence. Though we may not see the path ahead, our emotions can make us question our destiny. We must remain steadfast. By remembering to lean on the Heavenly Father and being open to increasing our faith, our path will be a much easier trip to navigate for our lives. Once we give up control and allow Him to direct the route, we will see that our trip will be smoother, and we will see His faithfulness while He slowly reveals our purpose. Will you let go and let God lead?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Reflection Questions:

  • Have you ever felt like your life was full of turbulence?

  • What choices can you make to ensure your path is smooth?

  • Who will you turn to when you experience doubts and don’t know your purpose?
