Work Ethic
In my newsletter this week, I want to ask if you think you have a good work ethic? Does your work reflect someone who goes above and beyond? If you hesitated on answering these questions, I would ask you to reflect on why you paused. According to Google, “Employees with strong work ethics take their work seriously and devote their working hours to going above and beyond what's required of them. Their passion for their job means that they'll complete tasks quickly and do it to the best of their ability.” Can you say that this description represents you or is your work ethic the opposite? My prayer is that you aim high and serve with your whole heart. This is always what I looked for when I hired anyone. I always looked for quality people whose goal was to strive for excellence. Likewise, it was important that they had a desire to grow themselves so they could make a difference. This scenario always had the best outcome. However, sadly not everyone has these goals. Rather some go to work to only get a paycheck. These people generally are your complainers, underachievers and eventually dread being at the workplace. Instead of seeing their responsibilities as something they have been entrusted with, they look at it as it is a burden. However, honestly the choice on how we embrace our job is totally in our hands. The opportunity can be different if we change our mindset and see the job as a chance to impact others. The idea reminds me of a man in the Bible known as the apostle Paul. He was a man who went out of his way to do whatever it took to get the job done and was diligent because he knew not only did Christ have faith in his abilities, but he knew he was called to a job that would make an impact for the kingdom. No matter what he faced, he worked as if it was his last day and knew he was called to a higher purpose. My friends, this is the same mindset that all of us need to adopt. Will you see that having a good work ethic is and can be effective to make a difference? I will leave you with this quote from the internet: “If you built a house with your work ethic, dedication, and preparation, would you trust it’s foundation enough to live in it?” Let us all examine our work ethic and make changes accordingly so we can be the best that we can possibly be. Will you join me?
Whatever you do, work at it from the soul, as for the Lord and not for people. For you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as a reward. It is to the Lord Messiah you are giving service. For the one doing wrong will be paid back for what he did wrong, and there is no favoritism.

Reflection Questions:
When you ask yourself- do I have a good work ethic, what is your answer?
Do you take pride in your work and do it to the best of your ability?
Will you go above and beyond because you are working for the Lord rather than for people?
Bonus: Great song (if you are interested) - Even though the days may be hard, and you may want to slack in your job. Just remember you have the “Miracle Power “of Jesus to help you stay on the path so you can maintain excellence.
