Spiritual Warfare

In my newsletter this week, I would like to talk about spiritual warfare and being attacked by the adversary-the devil. Have you ever felt like you have been on attack in your personal, spiritual and professional life? Let’s say your health has not been good because of covid, or maybe your finances took a dive because you got laid off from work, or how about your car breaks down when you just started a new job. Maybe your prayers have not been answered in the way that you thought because you just got the news that your Mom has been diagnosed with dementia. All of these things are real life situations that can impact families. For this reason, is why people who face these challenges struggle with their faith while enduring such crisis. Sadly, it’s devastating still when only one crisis happens but what happens when all of these situations happen simultaneously? What type of response do you think we would see in these types of cases? Well, I can say that I have seen many who display a feeling of hopelessness, depression and a sense of being overwhelmed which generally keeps the sufferer from moving forward. If this sounds familiar to any of you, I want to encourage you and say: you are not alone. There is always a way and plan to help escape this desolate desert of undesired situations. I love the quote and reminder by David Jeremiah, he states: “When things are going well, Satan encourages us to trust our abilities rather than relying on God.” “In the midst of your struggle Jesus is standing by you.” Will you allow him to lead you through the storm and build your faith while growing closer to him so that you will have an extra shield of protection when you face spiritual warfare?

Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

Reflection Questions

1. How will you respond to spiritual attacks when they are thrown your way?

2. Are you equipped with the armor or God to fight your battles?

3. Will you believe Satan- that your abilities are enough to sustain you of will you rely on a higher power-Jesus?

Bonus: Great song (if you are interested listen to this and ask), How will you get out of the desolate desert? “Build a Boat”
