Act of Love
In my newsletter this week, I would like to ask a simple question. Does everything you do exude love or does it look much different to others? I know for me, when I was thinking about this, I had to stop in my tracks and say most of the time I try to portray love. But I was sad to think I did not demonstrate this all the time. This is an area that I can definitely improve in. How about you? If I were to ask you, what areas do you struggle with that keeps you from displaying love-what would you say? Would you say that your co-workers see you as one filled with love? How about your family? Did you know that sometimes it is our pride, our arrogance, or even the past that led us to refrain from extending love? These various things can also lead us to ignore the fact that all people need and want to be loved. However, it has to begin with us. The simple act of being kind and loving can make a huge impact on society especially in the workforce. I serve several companies that make it their mission to love their people well. When I walk in their door, I can feel it immediately. When they engage each other in the office as well as greet the public, it is evident there is something different. This is the picture of loving people well. Likewise, when I was reading about why we celebrate Labor Day, I saw this great quote from Google that says it perfectly. “The patriotic holiday celebrated on the first Monday of September honors the American labor movement and workers who helped build the country and keep it strong. Are we helping to do this-honoring, building and make society stronger? As I have gotten older, I have made it my goal to implement these concepts as I do ministry. I want to honor the American people by helping build strong relationships and exude the love of Christ. I want to uplift others with excellence and demonstrate a type of care that communicates that each person is valued and treasured no matter our differences and circumstances. By having this mindset, this will contribute to humanity and hopefully make a difference. I guess what I am saying if we all look at people and see their worth and treat them like Jesus treats us, then this world would be a much better place. Wouldn’t you agree? So, let’s do our best to make this happen! I will leave you with this quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” I could not agree more. So, will you do your part and be intentional and meet people where they are and love them well?
Let all that you do be done in love.

Reflection Questions:
When you are around your co-workers or family, do they see a person full of love?
What areas or circumstances do you need to release in order to find joy and love for others?
How will you make changes so others see something different in you?
Bonus: Great song (if you are interested) - Will people be able to recognize Jesus in you “with every act of love”
