Growing Weary
In my newsletter this week, I would like to ask you if you have ever grown weary? According to Google, growing weary means: “being exhausted in strength.” To me, growing weary is also when you have low energy and your body and mind are physically tired. Have you ever gotten to that point where you are just physically depleted? If so, how do we go forward to fix this issue? We re-evaluate our schedule and determine what is needed to help us slow down and recharge. Sometimes it means saying no, or not going to an event or even all together not engage in anything. Our bodies can’t stay on the path of go-go-go all the time. If we do this, we will burn ourselves out and become unhealthy. Having time management and a good work/life balance is extremely important. We must periodically slow down and take a time out to decompress. You may say, I am too busy to take a break and I am really not sure what is leading me to growing weary? It’s simple look at your lifestyle-it’s easy to recognize different areas that bring more to the day that can lead you to growing weary. Some examples may be: family, functions, busyness of life, conflict (emotionally tired) and of course overcommitment. Do these things sound familiar or resonate with you? The solution according to rethinknow.org states: “we must commit to rest (Matthew 11:28-30), surround ourselves with others (they will make us accountable and hold us up), invest in your relationship with God (do not put others before him this is not the correct order) and Keep your eyes on the prize (do not look at back at your past, but forward to the future-eternity.” “Rest isn’t a good idea, it is God’s idea, he designed us to rest.” So, hearing this and knowing these suggestions, will you commit to take a day out of your schedule and focus on rest? You will be happy you did it, and be better for it. Make sure you check out the song link below- every week I choose a song that resonates with the content, this one will be reminder where we find our rest ☺
He gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak. Even the youths shall be exhausted, and the young men will all give up. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:29-31

Reflection Questions:
Do you need to slow down and re-evaluate your schedule?
Are you constantly running on fumes but you keep going to the point you are emotionally and physically drained?
What areas of your life do you need to rework to allow you more time to rest?
Bonus: Great song (if you are interested) - Are you weary? Will you ask the Holy Spirit to “Rest on Us”
