Relationships
Today in my newsletter I am going to camp on the idea of “relationships”. We all have them, some may be healthy and some may need a little work to make them ideal. However, what about the ones that leads us to be angry, distant, and lonely or even those relationships that shutdown the idea of not being open to other opportunities that new people can offer. Though Relationships can be complex, they can also bring joy and pain. In addition, they can also help shape us, challenge us, make us or break us. So, how do we make sure that we are receiving the blessing that God gives us through relationships? Well,we have faith and try to stay open while developing them. You may say but some people are full of drama and I don’t want to engage these types of people. Have you ever thought why these people may have this stigma? Generally, most of them have never been shown true love before and need someone like us to be the hands and feet of Jesus and show love. In my experience, when I have made my own decision based on my interactions and not on hear say of others, I have gained another trusted friend because I took the time to see the good in them and have been blessed because I believe God placed them strategically in my life to make an impact. Likewise, just because people have had hurt us in the
past, does not mean forgiveness should not be extended and that we will have the same experience as before. After all doesn’t our heavenly father forgive us every day for the times we fail him, and shouldn’t we do the same for others? Sometimes, it’s easier to avoid, disregard and even dismiss those who consume our time. But rather than shun them, we should welcome them! The opportunity of a relationship is a gift, even when it is hard. Don’t just shut down the idea if you have had conflict. Work
hard for the good and seek reconciliation and remember to show them unconditional love because that is what we are called to do. With this said, my challenge is: the next time you see someone who needs a friend, step up and be the person He created you to be. After all He accepted us when we were lonely and searching and in the process gave us much more than we deserve through a personal relationship. The idea of unity can only be cultivated by the Holy Spirit, so will you let him work in your heart today?
