Father’s Day

In a few short days most likely many people will be celebrating Father’s Day. When you think about a Father, what are some words that come to mind? Some Dad’s may reflect the words: devoted, reliable, selfless and insightful. However, for others, some words may be the opposite and reflect such words as: absent, selfish, careless, and unreliable. Though many people don’t always share the same dynamics, most people have a desire to have a Father figure in their lives that demonstrate someone who will offer an intimate (1 John 3:1-2), intentional (Psalms 139:13-16)) and invariable (Zephaniah 3:17)relationship that shows unconditional love and can play a vital role in their lives. Whatever scenario describes your Father from the list above, we can agree that family dynamics can be tough and also rewarding. Likewise, Father’s can also bless us; fail us and not always measure up to what we had hoped for in our lives when we think about what the ideal Father should look like. But, one thing is for sure-there is one Father that can fill our cup full and meet our expectations while sustaining us – his name is Jesus. So, If you celebrate this Sunday and pay honor to: a biological father, a adoptive father, a step-father or one that you look up to as a father figure –please also remember “The One” who made a way for all, the Heavenly Father. He is worthy of our praise! Happy Father’s Day to all, I pray you have a blessed day.

Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise:  If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth. Eph 6:2-3
