Feeling Chased?

In my newsletter this week, I would like to ask you if you have ever noticed how many movies out there use the idea of people being chased. I was thinking about which ones I have seen and that carried this type of theme. I came up with The Fast and the Furious, The Fugitive, The Terminator, and recently Top Gun: Maverick. All of which are invigorating, as well as displays the main character who is in turmoil that eventually overcomes the chase and in the end defeats the enemy. But when reflecting on real life, the storyline is relatable because many people also experience a chase but are now seen as the runner. Many times people face things that provoke them to run. Sometimes the running leads the runner in a direction that brings them to a place of confusion which leads to them facing the enemy without protection. In this type of race, the runner generally feels trapped and broken with no hope. Have you ever been in this chapter of life? The phase is not a fun place to be and even leaves people feeling isolated, and defeated. However, I am here to share that there is a way to fight the good fight and win. The runner must put on the right armor (Ephesians 6:10-18) to defeat the enemy. Similar to the movies mentioned –the runner must implement a strategic plan (Proverbs 1 6:1). Likewise, they must put their faith in a higher power-Jesus so He can lead them out of the battle (2 Chronicles 20:17). In addition, sometimes when the attack is in full-force, he/she may think they are alone. But my friend, I can tell you this is not the case. There is always a choice to ask for help. The strongest weapon that can eradicate the invasion is only found in the heavenly Father and he is ready for you to call out to him.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.

Reflection Questions

1. What are you currently running from in your life?

2. Are you equipped properly when the enemy attacks?

3. Will you rely on your strength or turn to one who is all powerful?

Bonus: Great song (if you are interested) when you are in a battle did you know that you are not alone “Even when you are running”.
