Give Me Faith
In my newsletter today, I would like to ask if there was ever a time at which you prayed for something and you did not trust God because He had not given you the answers yet? For me, I would say yes, this has happened quite a few times in my life. But as I grew in my relationship with Him, so did my faith which led me to trust more and question less. Many times we doubt the ability of our Heavenly Father to answer our plea, yet we run to Him as a last resort to help because our circumstances lead us to feel hopeless and broken. Through our appeal, we have forgotten that He is enough to sustain us in times of need. In addition, it’s good to recognize that His plan is always perfect and thus should not lead us to forget that His timing is also not ours. Therefore, even though we know results take time, it also requires us to be patient. By not being patient, we still expect Him to give us the answers right away instead of letting him grow us in the waiting process. Much the same, we may even get tired of waiting and try to take control of the situation which in turn typically does not work out to well. Nevertheless, does our eagerness demonstrate people who are putting their trust and faith in the ability of a higher power? The answer is no! In lieu of waiting, we chose to act impulsively because of a lack of belief instead of having confidence. For this reason, we must allow Him to intercede and trust His plan because it’s perfect and far better than what we could have ever imagined. So, the next time you run to Jesus, thank him first for the things He has already done in your life, and then bring your requests to Him and trust as he prepares the way. Remember, what Isaiah 30:18 says: “So the LORD must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.”
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Reflection Questions
1. Are you a person who only comes to the Father when things are going wrong?
2. What steps will you take to make sure you are also thanking him when things are going right?
3. When you make a request, do you allow him to work on your behalf and wait patiently or do you have a time limit before you try and control the situation?
4. How will you find ways to increase your faith and fully trust him?
Bonus: Great song (if you are interested listen to this and ask), Have you ever asked God to… “Give Me Faith?”
